Information you provide

You can browse the archive without an account. If you choose to take part, you may provide:

• Account and authentication information used to create and access an account.
• Profile information such as your username.
• Messages you send through the contact form.
• Tape submissions, including catalog details and any images you upload.
• Anything else you choose to include in a submission or message.

Technical and service information

Running a website produces technical information. Basic request, device, and browser information may be processed by our hosting and infrastructure providers as needed to operate, secure, authenticate, troubleshoot, and maintain the site. Service logs exist as part of normal operation.

Browser and session storage may be used for sign-in and session functionality, and for navigation or site preferences where applicable.

How information is used

Information is used to:

• Operate accounts and sign-in.
• Review and publish eligible archive submissions.
• Respond to messages sent through the contact form.
• Maintain security and prevent abuse.
• Troubleshoot problems and improve the reliability and usability of the site.

What becomes public

The archive is a public catalog. Tape and catalog information, along with images submitted for inclusion, may become publicly visible once approved by archive staff. Please consider this before you submit anything, and only upload images you are comfortable publishing.

Member email addresses are not published anywhere on the site.

Service providers

Third-party providers process information on our behalf as necessary to run the site, including hosting, database and file storage, authentication, and transactional or site email delivery. Supabase currently provides the database, file storage, and authentication used by the archive. Resend currently provides transactional and authentication email delivery. Providers may change over time as the project evolves.

Sharing and disclosure

Personal information is not intentionally sold, and it is not used for behavioral advertising. Information may be disclosed where necessary to operate the service, protect the site and its users, comply with legal obligations, or at your direction or with your consent.

Retention

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, for security and records, or to meet legal obligations. Contributions published in the public archive may be retained as part of the historical catalog unless they are corrected or removed by archive staff.

Security

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information handled by the archive. No website or system can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can contact the site administrator with privacy questions, correction requests, removal requests, or account-related requests. Requests are reviewed individually. We will do what we reasonably can, though some information may need to be retained for archive integrity, security, records, or legal reasons.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the archive changes. When it is, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
