Back in 1989, Mike Vraney unleashed something gloriously weird into the world—an ever‑growing treasure trove for anyone who gets a thrill from cult oddities, exploitation gems, sexploitation fever dreams, and all the beautifully bizarre corners of cinema. With his partner in weird (and widow) Lisa Petrucci continuing to nurture and expand that legacy, Something Weird Video has become a beacon for our wonderfully offbeat community. We owe them a mountain of gratitude, a stack of rewound tapes, and maybe a few questionable drive‑in snacks.
The mission of this website is simple: build a searchable Something Weird Video VHS database that catalogs every VHS tape ever distributed by Something Weird Video, complete with cover scans, catalog numbers, collections, release details, and all the tape‑era charm we can preserve. Our hope is that this project becomes more than a reference guide for longtime SWV diehards—it should also be a neon‑lit invitation for new fans to tumble down the rabbit hole with us.

SWV ceased making and selling VHS tapes in 2009. So please do not enquire about purchasing any titles on this website.
SWV released thousands of titles on VHS format between 1990-2008. Some of the original film elements were found in the wild and considered public domain, while others were licensed from distributers and rights holders. There were a lot of "grey" area titles (where the rights and chain of title were "fuzzy"). SWV always tried its best due diligence when researching film rights. However, over the years some titles were dropped from the SWV catalog due to previously unknown rights issues.
