This page explains who operates the SWV VHS Archive, how to reach the operator with legal questions or concerns, and the principles the archive follows regarding third-party content and intellectual property.

Operator and ownership

The SWV VHS Archive is owned and operated by VHS is LIFE LLC.

All legal notices, rights questions, permissions requests, complaints, or other legal correspondence concerning the site should be directed to VHS is LIFE LLC through the Contact form.

Independent, fan-created archive

The SWV VHS Archive is an independent fan-created research and reference archive documenting Something Weird Video VHS history. It is not owned, operated, sponsored, or endorsed by Something Weird Video, Something Weird, LLC, or other referenced filmmakers, studios, distributors, licensors, or rights holders unless explicitly stated.

Third-party content and rights

Third-party names, titles, trademarks, logos, cover art, label artwork, photographs, film imagery, and other third-party material remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on the archive is for identification, historical documentation, research, scholarship, commentary, and reference. No ownership of those third-party materials is claimed by VHS is LIFE LLC.

Except for third-party content, the site’s original text, original graphics, software and code, selection and organization, database arrangement, and other original site materials are owned by or licensed to VHS is LIFE LLC, with all applicable rights reserved.

Fair use and legal doctrines

Some uses of copyrighted material may qualify as fair use under applicable U.S. law or other applicable legal doctrines. Whether a particular use is fair is fact-specific and must be evaluated case by case. The archive does not assert that every item necessarily qualifies as fair use or any other legal exception.

Informational purpose and accuracy

Archive information is provided for historical, research, and informational purposes and may contain errors, omissions, uncertain dates or catalog data, or incomplete rights information. It is not an authoritative ownership or chain-of-title database and should not be relied upon as legal advice.

Cover and label images and release references are documentation and reference material. They are not offers by the archive to sell the pictured VHS releases and do not imply that Something Weird Video currently sells them.

Rights-holder concern process

If you believe material on the archive infringes or misuses your rights, please contact the site administrator through the Contact form. Helpful details include:

  • The specific material or page URL involved.
  • The right you believe is affected and why.
  • Your contact information.
  • The action you are requesting (for example, correction, restriction, or removal).

Review of notices

The site will review notices it receives and may correct, restrict, or remove material when appropriate. Not all requests will result in removal; each notice is reviewed individually based on the information provided and applicable principles.

Legal notices and rights questions can be sent to the site administrator through the contact page.
